All Stars Point Towards the Galaxy – (Chapter: Prologue)

Lorelai looked up as she heard Michel say something in French, which is never a good thing.  She saw him trying to help someone pick a bunch of papers and books up.  She rolled her eyes and walked over to them.  “Everything alright here?”

Michel looked up at Lorelai with his usually look of disdain on his face.  “Everything is fine.  Some people just need to learn how to look where they are going.”  The other person chuckled, causing Michel to growl.

“I’ve never heard a Frenchman growl before.  Not as ***** as I would have thought.”  Lorelai chuckled as the stranger stood up.  “Bonjour.  Je m’appelle Elizabeth Rousseau.”  Elizabeth took Lorelai’s hand and kissed the back of it.  “I’m sorry if I caused a disturbance.  I was just caught up in my book.”  Lorelai blushed and Elizabeth smiled.  “And you are?”

“Oh, sorry.  I am Lorelai Gilmore.”

“Ah, one of the owners of this fine inn.”  Lorelai nodded.  “I really am sorry for running into you,” Elizabeth said to Michel.  “Also, I hope no one else in here can speak French considering it probably isn’t a very good thing to curse in the workplace, even if in another language.”  Lorelai quirked an eyebrow as Michel looked at her then stomped off in a huffy.  “Sorry, I just couldn’t resist.”

Lorelai waved it off.  “Oh, don’t worry about it.  We all like messing with Michel.  He’s the local, and only, angry Frenchman.”  Elizabeth laughed as she bent to pick up her book.  “Do you need a room?”

“Already got one actually.  I checked in yesterday.”

                “Well, Ms. Rousseau-“

                “Please, call me Liz.”

Lorelai smiled.  “Liz, if there is anything you need, just ask.”  Liz nodded as Lorelai noticed her book.  “Don’t take this the wrong way but how would you get so engrossed into the Bible that you wouldn’t noticed someone walking towards you?”

Liz laughed and shook her head.  “It’s not a Bible but don’t worry.  I get that all the time.  It’s actually The Ultimate Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy by Douglas Adams.”

“Really?  I loved the first book in that series but never got to read the others, couldn’t find them.”  Liz smiled at Lorelai and she blushed again.  What was going on?  Was this girl flirting with her?  Lorelai smiled.  “Well I have got to get back to work.  It was a pleasure meeting you.”

“The pleasure was all mine.”  Liz bowed and then turned around, heading towards the restaurant.

Lorelai shook her head and headed towards the front desk.  “I already hate her.”  Lorelai laughed as Michel stated his disdain for the new lodger.  “She’s conceited beyond belief, more than me and that’s saying something.”

“Nobody is more conceited than you , Michel.”  Michel puffed his chest out until he realized that what Lorelai had said wasn’t a compliment.  “Look, you don’t have to like her, just avoid her and when that’s not possible, be civil.”  Michel rolled his eyes and headed towards the kitchen.
